TAASAN NEWS: Vladimir Putin recently acknowledged that Russia was on the approach of a civil war in a new speech regarding the recent uprising of the Wagner Mercenary commanded by Prigozhin.

 

The President of Russia announced on Tuesday in front of 2,500 security forces, the national guard, and military units of Russia that during the armed rebellion of Yevgeny Prigozhin last Saturday, a civil war was prevented with "clear and coherent" action.

 

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was also present at this meeting, which was held in an area of the Kremlin. The minister whom Wagner's group demanded to be dismissed during their rebellion and march towards Moscow

 

Putin emphasised that "the people and the army were not with the rebels". Meanwhile, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the commander of the Wagner militia group, said in his first voice message on Monday, June 26, that the troops under his command were welcomed and supported by the residents of the regions in Russia they passed through.

While it is difficult to draw conclusions about public opinion in Russia, the country's top officials were concerned by the sight of civilians cheering on Wagner's units in the city of Rostov.
